Policies
The Comfy Home is an in-home childcare center which accepts no more than 5 children up to five years old for full time care and no more than 2 school aged children for after school care (primarily available for siblings of the children I keep full time). The Comfy Home is open from 6:00 am until 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Breakfast, lunch, and a snack are provided daily along with milk, juice, and water.
Curriculum
Toddlers and preschool aged children participate in daily language, math, and reading lessons which are taught through games, songs, art, and manipulatives. Kindergarten readiness skills such as letter recognition, letter sound knowledge, colors, positional words, and number sense are an integral part of your child's day. Monthly newsletters keep parents informed on our curriculum activities and daily report sheets show parents specific information about mealtimes and naptimes.
Naptime Policy
Each child has his/her own cot or pack-n-play with individual linens which are washed weekly. Parents are welcome to send comforting stuffed animals or blankets to help children fall asleep easily during nap time. Infants are put to sleep on their backs and nap in the same room with their caregiver so they may be closely monitored.
Discipline Policy
At The Comfy Home children are redirected for negative behaviors by focusing their attention on something other than the source of the behavior. No time outs are given unless parents have requested this. To keep consistency between your child's day time and night time experiences parents may request specific discipline actions such as taking marbles from a jar, etc. I will not spank a child under any circumstances.
As part of the preschool and toddler curriculum children are taught manners and social skills to help prepare them for school. Lessons focus on sharing, waiting turns, table manners, listening to stories which are read aloud, and much more.
Safety
At The Comfy Home safety is a priority. All floors, counter tops, bathrooms, toys, and the playroom are cleaned daily to ensure children have a safe, clean environment. Children have opportunities to play outside when the weather is nice. I provide sunscreen for children on bright, summer days.
Tuition
A tuition price is set per week and should be paid consistently based on the schedule agreed upon by the parent and caregiver. In the event I am unable to provide care because of sickness or an emergency I will have a certified substitute take my place and parents will be given advance notice. If under emergency circumstances care is not provided parents will be reimbursed for that day, however if a child does not attend for any reason including, but not limited to an emergency, sickness, or parent choice tuition is still due for the day that was missed. A two week notice is appreciated if my services are no longer needed.
Teachers will not be charged over summer break, however during all other breaks including spring break and Christmas break tuition should be paid.
I will reserve a spot for an expectant parent or for families under a similar circumstance for a maximum of three months. A non-refundable deposit of $100 per month is required from the time the reservation begins until the month the child attends The Comfy Home. All money paid as a deposit will be deducted from the first month's tuition.
